Friday, Sep 2nd
I slept terribly last night... I dreamed I was having open-heart surgery...while I was awake! (No idea why I dreamed that...). We actually had to wake the girls up this morning to go to breakfast, which is surprising. They usually get up on their own. At breakfast we talked with one of the waiters -- he's from Belgium apparently. Mom and I have been wondering where he's from all week... he looks like a movie star or something. I figured he was from France -- he's got that look about him and an accent to go with it. He was nice.
Anyway, after breakfast we stayed in our hotel room for awhile -- mom braided Faith Yue Fei's hair and I taught the girls how to make friendship bracelets. Around 3pm we went to the police station to finish up even [more] paperwork. Then we went to a book store. We got an electronic translator for the girls -- LIFE SAVER! And an English-Chinese dictionary for me, for when I stay here and travel alone. We went to dinner with the Walker family. They adopted twice baby girls from here. They're soooooo adorable!!! They have two other adopted children as well. One from China and one from Kasakstan (or however you spell that). It was fun getting to know them. They're from South Carolina, Mr (David) Walker is a pastor and they homeschool their children, too. Nice family.

The girls slept in (sorta), we went to breakfast, then my parents and the girls went to finish up paperwork. I stayed in the hotel....all day. I went out once, at night, with my dad, to get dinner (which btw, was insanely difficult... I wish I knew Chinese!), but that's about it. Nothing exciting.

Wednesday, Aug 31st
We got up, had breakfast and then went to meet Faith Yue Fei. We sat in the very room where we met Jadyn last year, which was kinda nerve wracking/bringing back memories and feelings. Faith walked in with her teacher and with a big smile on her face waved to us and went to a different room to wait. We then walked over to meet her...she walked up with a huge smile and gave everyone a hug! She is the sweetest girl you will ever meet!! So precious. After that, we went shopping to get them both clothes, shoes, swimsuit, etc. The girls took to each other instantly! Faith started to cry as we left the adoption office, because she missed her teacher, and Anna comforted her -- so sweet! And Anna is actually taking to Faith more than me now... We got dinner to take back to the hotel, along with the birthday cake for Anna. We skyped some friends and had a birthday "party" for her. She's 14 (supposedly) now!

Tuesday, Aug 30th
I slept a little later today, but not much. It was 5:45ish when I got up. Xui Mei was the last up. She still seems happy. She wore the same clothes yesterday, slept in them and again today... we'll see how long this lasts. I spent about an hour playing with Xui Mei; She taught me a lot more Chinese words...she takes hold of my hand and teaches me how to write the Chinese characters and then makes me do it alone...after awhile I figured out how to do the strokes and stuff -- took awhile though, lol. We're about to leave to go to Guangzhou, now. We get Faith Yue Fei tomorrow!!

Monday, Aug 29th
We got up super early, once again, and left the hotel at 8:30am to go meet Anna Xui Mei. When we walked in the room she clung to her nanny and was crying alot and refused to even look at us. She wouldn't talk or look or go near us for at least an hour.. maybe two. After awhile, a little toddler came in and Xui Mei jumped up and was laughing and playing with the little girl. She obviously knew her quite well. Being the baby-lover that I am, I went and played with them, too. It didn't take too long before Xui Mei was playing and talking to me, too. After about three hours, we left the office, with Xui Mei, and went to walmart. She picked out a few clothes and shoes. Poor girl doesn't know know what to do, I don't think. She doesn't like how we speak different languages... who would? We went to dinner at the "Blue bird" across the street, but it took way too long for the food to get to us.. it was awkward silence. When we got back from dinner, we taught her how to play UNO...she loved it! I played with her for at least an hour, if not longer..she beat me a lot. lol. I got a notebook out and started writing a few Chinese words down and the English word next to them -- She started going through word after word, teaching me how to write it in Chinese... She gave me 4 pages worth of a Chinese lesson.
Bed time was interesting...she didn't want to take a shower, or even change her clothes... she brushed her teeth at least...

Sunday, Aug 28th
I think the jet-lag has finally sunk in... I've been awake for an hour and a half and it's only 6am right now (sigh). But at least it's 6pm back home, so people are still awake to talk to! (Yay!)
After breakfast this morning we sat around our hotel room for what seems like the entire day! (really only 5 hours. which I mostly skyped with people the whole time). Then we went to the minority village. That was pretty neat to see all the different minority groups. But, it was kinda miserable, too. My dad started feeling sick as soon as we got there and it was hot and way too much walking for my foot to handle.
Right now it's 7:15pm and we've been sitting in our hotel room for a long time, once again. About 45 minutes ago my parents laid down and were talking...I just looked over and they're both sound asleep! Makes things pretty boring for me... no one to talk to. lol. Guess I'll go get ready for bed here soon. We have a big day tomorrow! (We get Anna!)
